INTERACTIVE, KINETIC and SCULPTURAL PAINTINGS BY WILLIAM J. CALLNAN III DEBUTS IN NAPA VALLEY

Callnan’s newest work “SUBLIME TRANSITIONS” comprises of two distinctly different and yet interconnected groups of painting and sculpture. Each of the vastly detailed and kinetic sculptural and mixed media paintings explore the cyclical nature of –TRANSITION as perceived by Callnan’s wholly refreshing, cleverly satirical and confrontational approach. He refers to “destructive creationism – to eliminate passive viewing and engage the viewer in an entertaining and thought provoking participation with the works.”

In contrast, SUBLIME - the sensuousness of the highly glossed, monochromatic bottle forms and meteorbs which consist of hundreds of high fired, hand formed ceramic sculpture, create a beautiful dreamlike element that successfully connects and balances the high pitched, roller coaster dive feelings evoked from the works. Callnan excels superbly in expressing with his works.
