Established writers group (currently seven members multi-gender / multicultural) looking for 2 to 3 new members. Meets at Rockridge, Oakland, one block from Bart station. Novels, short stories, memoirs, poetry and creative non-fiction welcome. Very supportive group, good rapport, great ambience. Format: No reading. We submit excerpt of our work (6-8 pages) and we critique it during the meeting (similar to the format at Squaw Valley workshops). We have no facilitator. First 20 minutes of the meeting devoted to networking, talking about craft, marketing, writers conferences, etc. Our membership run the gamut from beginners to published novelist to writers with agents shopping their work. The only thing we ask is that you are serious about the craft and make an attempt to regualrly attend the meetings. We meet every other Thursday, 7 - 9 pm.
