| Description Alameda Museum presents a special two-man show "Picto-Calligraphy & Sculpt-Script." Opening on Thursday, July 3 and running through Wednesday, July 30, 2008; the exhibition features Taiwanese calligrapher, Mei Chu Chang's reinvented pictographic and imagery-Chinese calligraphy, and Chinese-born, Alameda-based sculptor, Feng Jin’s metal sculpture in various Asian calligraphic forms and styles.
Transforming from 2-D writings into a 3-D object, Jin's "Sculpt-Script Series" widely applies movement of line strokes from ancient Chinese characters into metal strips. Unlike his various metal series in solid forms, Jin has liberated his imagery entirely from the atmosphere of Chinese Calligraphy. Lines and strokes in relation to the spaces are the major emphases of "Sculpt-Script Series", in addition to the combination of linear invention and lyric finesse.
