Description
Blankspace is proud to present a solo exhibition of mixed media works by Sam Lopes. Lopes graduated from CCA in 2007 with an MFA in painting, has been exhibited nationally, and is a 2008 SECA award candidate.

Lopes' new work delves headlong into the interiors of domestic dwellings room by room. Borrowing from his recent experience as the caretaker of an historic Victorian home, Lopes' colorful, multilayered drawings and paintings are laden with a variety of objects, worn by history and the memory of unknown occupants. Whether it be mounted animal heads or shotguns hanging from the wall, or vacant chairs resting on colorful swirling rugs, these images carry the weight of past events in search for a place in the present.
