Building personal altars is an amazing way to create an individual rite-of-passage in a ceremonial way; birth, marriage, divorce, jobs begun or ended, significant birthdays, accomplished goals, communities forming or dissolving, and death, are just some of the reasons for creating a special altar. To create a rite-of-passage ritual such as building an altar is to witness and support the changes and passages of life.

It is important to make your altar with great care, understanding that it will be a sacred representation of yourself. It tells a story from your life in symbols and can function as a wonderful container for memories, love, dreams, or transformation.
