With an on-site inventory of over 13,000 bottles, this Financial District lunch and after work destination is a great affordable spot to savor and sip. The classic British pub atmosphere provides an attitude-free environment. This is also a popular destination for many special events - promotions, celebrations, birthdays, and the legendary "Friday the 13th Champagne party", held since 1977. While heavily influenced by small California producers, they also have a nice selection of French and Australian wines. Serving daily from approximately four dozen by-the-glass choices (open bottles) of wine, champagne, and sparkling wine, "America's First Wine Bar" (literally true; founded in 1974) also offers ports, sherries, and beers on tap in case you bring a mixed crowd.
