Contra Dance began in New England in Colonial Times, as a result of the meeting of various European folk dances such as English and Irish. Since that time it has been growing and developing steadily, encompassing more and more genre and styles of music and dance, to become a unique American folk experience, full of self expression as well as easy to learn techniques - anyone can Contra Dance... be prepared for fun !!!
